She sweeps with many-colored brooms,
And leaves the shreds behind;
Oh, housewife in the evening west,
Come back, and dust the pond!
You dropped a purple ravelling in,
You dropped an amber thread;
And now you’ve littered all the East
With duds of emerald!
And still she plies her spotted brooms,
And still the aprons fly,
Till brooms fade softly into stars—
And then I come away.

My life closed twice before its close
My life closed twice before its close— It yet remains to see If Immortality unveil A third event to me So huge, so hopeless to conceive As these that twice befell. Parting is all we know of heaven, And all we need of hell.

Wild Nights - Wild Nights!
Wild Nights - Wild Nights!
Were I with thee
Wild Nights should be
Our luxury!
Futile - the winds -
To a heart in port -
Done with the compass -
Done with the chart!
Rowing in Eden -
Ah, the sea!
Might I moor - Tonight -
In thee!
